A wedding somewhere between rustic and chic in a vintage location in the heart of Tuscany: this was Fabio and Sabrina’s dream, a young couple from Bologna, who had often been to the Val d’Orcia as tourists, decided to get married here. A wish came true when they saw the Terre di Nano for the first time, a charming villa surrounded by vineyards and olive groves near Pienza: the perfect place for their reception to welcome over 100 guests not only from Italy, but also from Spain. Sabrina has Spanish origins and the wedding was a special occasion to see all her friends and relatives again.

Sabrina, architect and designer who loves all things vintage, wanted there to be a definite theme for the event: starting with her dress, which she designed and had made by a trusted dressmaker. A couture 1950s dress in ivory taffeta with an original asymmetrical neckline, high-low hemline complete with a vintage veil and long gloves. Antique gold for the accessories from a family pin on the neckline to a pair of sky high heels, even the ribbon on the elegant bouquet made up of peonies, buttercups, roses, and lisianthus in shades of white and ivory with the original touch of succulents. Finishing off Sabrina’s look, Marilyn red lipstick, obviously, with matching nail polish and curly hair set in a 50s style. Fabio was very elegant in his dark suit and bowtie.

The civil wedding ceremony took place in Palazzo Chigi in San Quirico d’Orcia in the cozy 18th century theatre: Sabrina arrived in a 1956 red MG spider accompanied by Fabio's dad. At the end of the ceremony, the Spanish guests kept to tradition by setting off “traca”, traditional firecrackers for the newlyweds. 

 Upon arriving at Terre di Nano, the guests were welcomed with a rich aperitif with a view over the hills of the Val d’Orcia at sunset. The seating plan was written in white ink on an antique mirror with a golden frame. After the bouquet toss, guests were seated for dinner in an olive grove illuminated by the magical lighting of string lights: two long bare wooden tables were set with lace runners and decorated with pots of herbs including a touch of Boho with succulents planted in terracotta and gold vases.

Sabrina, who loves DIY, not only took care of the graphics  - from the invitation to the menu - but also wanted each guest to find a personalized letter and a gift. The menu was purely Tuscan with pici pasta, roast pork and garden fresh vegetables, of course, paired with Nobile di Montepulciano wine. The cake table, a crostata cake topped with cream and fresh seasonal fruit - was decorated with a precious crochet table cloth; even the table of sweets was decorated in the same way with vintage doilies and crystal and silver dessert stands. The celebrations carried on till dawn to the tunes of disco music and Sangria.
