Lizzy and Roderick, from Amsterdam and head over heels for the Val d’Orcia, had a wedding that embodied relaxation and elegance.
The soon-to-be newlyweds wanted to spend a few days’ holiday in Tuscany with their closest relatives and friends: for this reason they chose Borgo di Castelvecchio, where they spent spectacular moments together between dips in the pool, wine tastings, and dinners featuring typical local products.

For the day of the wedding, they wanted a symbolic outdoor ceremony, which was celebrated by Roderick’s uncle in the warm and intimate setting of the herb garden.
Lizzy, who wore an enchanting gown with lace bodice, arrived on the arm of her father, who was visibly moved. Roderick awaited his bride in the garden, decorated by Puscina with compositions of dahlias and wild flowers of the Val d’Orcia, the same flowers made up the bouquet in pastel tones with touches of dark red.  The guests then moved to the meadow where they welcomed the newlyweds by showering them with rose petals before the cutting of the cake, a classic Italian millefeuille with fruits of the forest. It is actually a Dutch tradition to eat the cake right after the ceremony, paired with champagne to make the toasts.
After a long aperitif poolside at sunset, a splendid imperial table was set for the guests in the yard of the hamlet: decorated with pastel-coloured dahlias and seasonal fruit and lit by candelabra and lanterns hanging from the century-old tree, the setting for a dinner that featured traditional Tuscan fare by Lodovichi Ricevimenti. Then the real festivities began when everyone, literally everyone, danced until the early hours of the morning to the playlist of a famous DJ from Holland, one of the groom’s best friends.
