A Fun Irish Wedding in the Val d’Orcia

09 may 2019

This couple from Dublin, Camille and Brian, chose Tuscany for their wedding which was all about the joy and fun and keeping it casual. Camille, who lived in the tiny village of Montisi for a year when she was a girl, wanted to return to the places of her childhood. In this way, at Borgo Lucignanello, a little jewel of a town set in the Val d’Orcia, their clan of relatives and friends were able to spend some unforgettable days before and after the wedding.

The ceremony, which was held in the main garden of the hamlet, was simple and moving, accompanied by songs by Camille’s best friend and a saxophone. The six bridesmaids each brought a small bouquet of roses, peonies, and red fruits - created by florist Rossella Fadda - which were given to Camille to form her bouquet in order to symbolize union and friendship. Camille wore an original two-piece gown, with a white top and hemp-coloured skirt, perfect for the country style of the location and matching Brian’s light linen suit.

After a welcome drink in the hamlet, the guests made their way to a nearby villa, followed by Camille and Brian who made their very loud and scenic entrance on a traditional Piaggio Ape. The sudden rain showers did not disturb the lively atmosphere of the dinner in any way, which was easily moved inside: the bare wooden tables, simple and minimal, were decorated with small bouquets of olive and wild flowers as well as rosemary that were alternated with bouquets of baby’s breath and candles in glass vases.
On the menu only traditional dishes of the Val d’Orcia prepared by the team from Il Barrino in Montisi: pecorino cheese from Pienza, ribollita soup, pici pasta with aglione sauce, tagliatelle pasta in a wild boar sauce, veal, and, instead of wedding cake, an explosion of Tuscan desserts from cantucci biscuits with vin santo to artisanal ice cream. The celebrations ended with a roaring party which recreated the atmosphere of a celebration among friends to the tunes of the 80s.
