Simplicity and Elegance: Marina and Matt’s Wedding in the Val d’Orcia

19 may 2020

We especially loved Marina and Matt’s wedding, a splendid American couple who live in London and decided to get married in Tuscany. Not only because it perfectly represents the style and vision of Wedding in Val d’Orcia - simplicity and elegance at its best without being frilly and showy - but also because their love and their sweetness lit up every moment of this special day.
Starting from the location that they chose: Terre di Nano is one of our all-time favourites, thanks to the warm welcome by Ilaria in addition to the gorgeous scenery for the ceremony, drinks, and dinner making it perfect for a destination wedding in the Val d’Orcia.

Marina’s natural elegance was reflected in every single detail: the minimalist gown, the extreme simplicity of the symbolic ceremony, the bouquet, and the floral decorations magnificently created by Flowers Living, the long dinner table adorned with olive-leaf garland, vintage candelabras, and glass candle holders in various sizes.
An extraordinary folk trio sang traditional Italian songs - who could not go without dedicating the famous tune from the 60s “Marina” to the bride - enlivened the pre-dinner drinks. The guests enthusiastically feasted on an array of strictly local products from Pecorino sheep cheese from Pienza, to Cinta salami and warm breads and canapés.
The dinner in the olive grove, illuminated by the magical fairy lights and candles, was followed by the cutting of the cake, a classic Italian millefeuille, which the happy couple helped make under the amused eye of Chef Giorgio. Finally, a long and lively party followed with music by Matthew DJ.
